The Innersection movie will be composed entirely of fresh, new footage — seen nowhere else. Part of this application process is proving that a surfer can come up with that level of original content. Therefore, it states clearly in our rules that use of recycled clips is cause for immediate disqualification.
Innersection's policy that we don't go searching for re-used clips. That's your job, to police the site. And you've done a great job so far. Thanks.
Recently, it was brought to our attention that one of Matt Wilkinson's rodeo airs (:46) was used in another video. This calls for immediate disqualification from Innersection Winter Round. Tough break, since Wilko's section was looking very strong for Top 10 selection, and very possibly Top 5. His surfing is definitely up to par.
Wilko's section editor Jon Hetchkopf put together three sections for this project on a very fast timeline, and admits it was simply an honest mistake. He hopes to re-enter Matt in the next round with some more time to film/edit and raise the bar. Good luck, Matt, and sorry — rules are rules.
We are going to leave the section up for another twelve hours so you can say your good-byes. But it will not be appearing in Top 10s, no matter how many votes it gets.
Earlier in the round, there were some claims that Taylor Knox had a double up. We looked into this and while two clips are very similar, they were not the same clip. TK endures, as ever.
We're leaving Wilko's section up another 12 hours for people to pay their final respects. R.I.P. —NM
